My philosophy

This blog is meant to be a conversation, not a lecture. Like City Bureau’s community engagement guidelines, I see these rules as a starting point that can grow with the community. Everyone who loves (or loves to critique) sitcoms is welcome here.

What I expect from commenters

  • Disagree with ideas, not people. It’s fine to think New Girl is overrated. It’s not fine to insult someone for loving it.
  • Look for common ground first. The Center for Media Engagement found that focusing on people and shared beliefs makes hard conversations more productive.
  • If you share a fact, link a credible source.
  • Mark spoilers for anything that aired in the last two weeks.

Flagging comments

If a comment breaks these rules, use the “report” option or contact me directly. Please don’t respond to it in the thread.

Removing comments

I’ll remove comments that include harassment, hate speech, personal information about others, spam or unmarked major spoilers. I won’t remove a comment just because it disagrees with me.

Banning

Repeated or serious violations, such as threats, hate speech or harassment, will lead to a permanent ban. For lesser issues, I’ll give one warning first.
